DENVER (CBS4)- CBS4 Legal Analyst Karen Steinhauser said that competency is at the center of a hearing delay for Aurora theater shooting suspect James Holmes.
Holmes was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday for a pretrial hearing but his attorneys filed for an emergency cancellation.
Sources have told CBS4 Investigators that Holmes made several suicide attempts, including running into his cell wall and jumping off his cot.
Defense attorneys for Holmes went to court Wednesday to request a hearing for Holmes set for Thursday be postponed, but they were vague about precisely what happened.
A public defender declined in court to say what was ailing Holmes.
?It?s not as simple as a migraine,? she said.
?They really can?t go to court today until they figure out what is his mental state. Do they have a situation where now, they have to raise the issue of competency,? said Steinhauser.
