LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Jennifer Lee has been chosen to co-direct, along with "Tarzan's" Chris Buck, Disney's upcoming animated 3D film "Frozen," the company said Thursday.
Lee was a co-writer on the recent animated film "Wreck-It Ralph." She also contributed to the "Frozen" screenplay.
The toon, to be voiced by Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, is about an optimist who embarks on an epic journey with a mountain man and his reindeer to stop her sister, a Snow Queen who's put an icy spell on her kingdom.
Lee's other credits include the screen adaptation of John Steinbeck's "The Acts of King Arthur and His Noble Knights," which is being produced by Troika Pictures.
Peter Del Vecho, the producer of "Frozen," said in a statement that Lee has "a real connection to the film and creates dynamic and relatable characters. Her sense of comedy, adventure and story structure paired with Chris Buck's vast experience and incredible instincts create an ideal situation for this film."
"Frozen" is slated for a November 27, 2013 release. The film will feature original music from "The Book of Mormon" composer Robert Lopez and "In Transit" composer Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
