We?ve actually had a really productive weekend, which NEVER HAPPENS. It probably has something to do with the fact that my parents took Jack to the lake on Saturday. He?s kind of a one-man wrecking crew so it?s hard to accomplish anything (other than having fun) when he?s around.
On Friday this sweet little lady had her 6 month check-up.
She actually turned 7 months on Friday, so we?re a little late. Oh well. She did great and is tipping the scales at a whopping 16.1 lbs (30th percentile) and measures 27 1/4 inches (80th percentile). I was worried about the immunizations- she had several + a flu shot- but she was a champ and barely cried.
Waiting on the doctor- nakey babe snuggles are the best.
Lately we?ve had the itch to tackle some home projects. There?s this framed out white wall next to our pantry that Brian suggested turning into a chalkboard wall:
I always freak out about attempting projects like this because I?m afraid that we?re going to screw it up and ruin our house. Dumb, right? Luckily Brian?s a lot more adventurous. He read up on the project and ended up starting with 4 coats of magnetic primer (to clear off room on our cluttered fridge) and then topped that with 2 coats of black chalkboard paint. I think it turned out great! Jack?s really excited to draw on the wall (which we have explained to him is the ONLY wall he?s allowed to draw on? we?ll see).
Sorry, it?s a narrow hallway so it?s hard to get a good photo. The magnetic primer isn?t super strong. We kind of wish we?d added a few more coats, but it?s working fairly well with these awesome Mighty Magnets.
For dinner tonight I attempted this Balsamic Roast Beef in the crock pot. The only changes I made were adding a sliced onion, some baby carrots and a bag of sliced mushrooms. It turned out well but the juices released from the veggies made it a little watery and under seasoned. Next time I?ll leave those out.
Also, I have a new favorite way to prepare brussels sprouts!! These apple cider vinegar roasted brussels sprouts are amazing. Even Jack gobbled them up. The maple syrup and caramelized vinegar gives them a little sweetness, and I love that they use coconut oil.
That?s all I?ve got- hope everyone had a great weekend!
